Top five small cars coming to India soon

After the many new car launches and facelifts during the festive season, the automobile industry is gearing up for year-end and early-2016 launches. There are many models in every segment while the small car segment seems to have more members waiting to enter. We have compiled a list of the top five small cars launching soon in India.

Tata Kite

Codenamed Kite, the replacement of Tata's ageing Indica underpins the X0 platform and is expected to get a fresh styling, unlike any other current Tata passenger cars. From the video starring Tata's new global brand ambassador, Lionel Messi, it appears the hatchback will get a signature front grille with smoked headlamps and a fresh rear-end styling.

Tata Kite is likely to include a new 1.05-litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that can churn out 64.1bhp and 140Nm of torque, and an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Kite is speculated to get an e-clutch system similar to AMT that allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch. The global unveil is scheduled in the first week of December 2015.

The sub-four-metre Ignis compact SUV will come with the four-wheel drive system. Rumours are also doing the rounds that a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine with the SHVS mild-hybrid system mated to a CVT gearbox could also features in the compact SUV. The India unveil is expected during the 2016 Auto Expo, and estimated prices revolve around the Rs 4.5-lakh mark.

The fuel efficiency is expected to be higher than the Celerio's 27.62kmpl in Alto. The launch is expected by the end of 2015.

Google's self-driving car stopped for driving too slow

California police officer made a traffic stop but wrote no ticket. The car had no driver.

Mountain View police said in a statement that an officer pulled over a Google self-driving car that was being tested on local roads on Thursday.

The officer noticed the car going 24 mph (38 kph) in a 35 mph zone and realized it was a Google Autonomous Vehicle. He stopped the car and contacted its operators to let them know it was impeding traffic, but no citation was given.

A person is required to sit behind the wheel of self-driving cars.

The Google project responded in a blog post, saying it's never received a ticket and adding, "Driving too slowly? Bet humans don't get pulled over for that too often."

Sonam Kapoor: How about Salman Khan in Battle for Bittora?

Lots of speculation around who would play the male lead opposite Sonam Kapoor in Battle for Bittora has been doing the rounds ever since Anil Kapoor announced that he would be adapting the novel by the same name into a movie. The film would most likely be directed by Shashank Ghosh and produced by Rhea Kapoor and it would feature Sonam as the female lead. Battle for Bittora is the story of a young girl who is forced into contesting for Lok Sabha elections by her grandmother. The girl, named Jinni in the novel, is contending for the post with ex-royal Zain Altaf Khan who is shown to be an idealist Jinni is attracted to.

Post Khoobsurat’s success, rumours were rife that Fawad Khan would play Zain’s role in the movie considering that he would perfectly fit the bill! But several complications later the Pakistani heartthrob confirmed that he won’t be a part of the movie. Now the hunt is on for a new male lead.

We recently caught up with Sonam and asked her who she’d cast as Zain in Battle for Bittora. She said, “Zain has to be Muslim and capable of doing sher-o-shayari, so how about Salman Khan?! I mean obviously he is not going to do the film but it will be so awesome. He would be saying something and I would go “Oh My God Salman Khan is saying all these things to me!” I think either Salman or Shah Rukh Khan would be great but mostly Salman!”

Mitsubishi India to relaunch Montero, Outlander in 2016

Mitsubishi India's current line-up has only one vehicle, Pajero Sport SUV. The Japanese manufacturer entered the country in a joint venture with Hindustan Motors in 1998. The Lancer sedan became one of the most successful cars in India in the next decade. However, as time passed by, their sales went down due to the launch of wrong models of cars and choice of engines.

The scene is set to make a change as the new Montero and Outlander SUVs are scheduled to be launched in 2016. The new generation of the Pajero Sport will join the portfolio in 2017, increasing the number of SUVs to three.

"We would like to inform that our resources are being utilized for the activities involved in introduction of the new Montero and Outlander models in 2016 and followed later by the new generation Pajero Sport launch which tentatively would be sometime in the later part of year 2017," said Uttam Bose, Managing Director of Hindustan Motor Financial Corporation (HMFCL) -- the manufacturer and marketer of Mitsubishi vehicles in India. Uttam Bose inaugurated the new dealership JF Mitsubishi at Nagpur on 15 October.

India’s first sports car DC Avanti gets grey and orange paints for APS 2015

Billed as being the first Made in India sportscar, the DC Avanti has arrived at the 2015 Autocar Performance Show with two new liveries.
It showed up last month in London where it piqued the interest of many bystanders as obviously nobody knew what sort of car it was and now DC Design decided to bring the Avanti to the tenth edition of the APS in Mumbai, India in two fresh grey and orange body paints.
This isn’t actually a 100% Indian car as its rear mid-mounted 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine is sourced from Renault and in this application it develops 250 bhp (186 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque from 2,750 to 5,000 rpm channeled to the road through a six-speed manual gearbox.
car transport in gurgaon
The car weighs 1,580 kg (3,483 lbs) and manages to achieve the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in a decent 6 seconds before topping out at an electronically-capped 124 mph (200 km/h). It benefits from a double wishbone front and rear suspension and rides on 20-inch wheels with 255/35 front and 295/30 rear tires.
It’s a nice first effort coming from India, but obviously it wouldn’t stand a chance in highly competitive markets such as Europe and United States where there are plenty of appealing hot hatchbacks and small sports cars sold by reputable automakers to choose from.

Sunny Leone to Play Dual Role in Adult Comedy ‘Mastizaade’

Sunny Leone will be seen next in Milap Zaveri’s adult comedy “Mastizaade,” also starring Tusshar and Vir Das with Riteish Deshmukh in a special extended cameo.
Leone, who is playing dual roles as the hot and sexy Laila Lele and the cute and dorky Lily Lele, will be seen doing a sexy striptease and seducing Tusshar and Das in this caper.

Leone says that she was inspired by Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore for the film. To up the hotness quotient, the actress sought inspiration from the famous striptease by Aniston in “We Are the Millers” and Moore in “Striptease.”
Writer-director Milap Zaveri, who has delivered back-to-back hits as the writer of “Grand Masti,” “Main Tera Hero” and “Ek Villain,” said: “When I narrated the scene to Sunny, the first visuals that came in front of her were the popular striptease sequences performed by Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore. I wanted to have a jaw-dropping impact from the scene, and Sunny executed it brilliantly. Once the audience sees Sunny’s striptease, it will blow their minds! Never have you seen an actress do a striptease like this here.”
Er... how many recall any after Padma Khanna’s classic erotic act in “Johny Mera Naam” all of 45 years ago? Khanna’s career kicked off with that film, while Leone’s career overseas took off with real striptease in adult movies, right?
The naughty sex comedy has Tusshar playing Sunny Kele, who drives girls bananas, and Vir Das as Aditya Chotia with a rocket in his pocket (pun borrowed from a song in “Grand Masti”).
